John Toebben

Originally
from Germany, John got involved in soccer when his children
started playing recreational soccer in the early 1970’s in
Northern Kentucky.

In 1975, he started soccer program at
Covington High School and later coached at Covington Latin
School till 1984.
-
After coaching at the High School level, he
moved to Thomas More College for three years and was named NAIA
District 32 Coach of the Year in 1987 and 1989.

In 1990, he became the men’s soccer coach
at Northern Kentucky University, a position he held until 2002.
During that time, his team won three GLVC Championships and was
named coach of the year twice.

In 1995, he built the first indoor soccer
facility in Northern Kentucky and two short years later, he
built and developed Town & Country Sports Complex – a state of
the art indoor/outdoor facility. Town and Country served as the
home fields for both Thomas More and Northern Kentucky.

John looked forward to spending time with
his grandchildren, but unfortunately passed away at the age of
61 on April 26, 2003.
