Kentucky Awards for 2000

The Kentucky Youth Soccer Association Awards recognize outstanding achievements by Coaches, Players, Referees and Administrators in advancing youth soccer in the state.

Kentucky Players of the Year

KYSA Eurosport Player of the Year - Girls   Jennifer Gibson

After long and storied achievement during high school that included three KHSAA state championships and four years of Olympic Development Program participation, 

Jennifer Gibson of Prospect is headed to "Ole Miss" this fall to begin what is sure to be a stellar college career. Jennifer is the daughter of Carolyn and Randy Gibson, and a graduate of South Oldham High School. 

Her honors are many, including graduating in the top 10 percent of her class with honors and a distinguished math portfolio while being named a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All Region team for two years and an All American in 1999. 

The team captain is also the 1999 Gatorade Player of the Year, Miss Kentucky Soccer for 1999, a Heisman nominee for 1999 and was chosen the most valuable player on her team. Jennifer has played for the Javanon Soccer Club for 10 years, being the captain of her team all 10 years and leading the team to six KYSA state championships.

KYSA Eurosport Boy Player of the Year - Vijay Dias 

Though he played just two years in Kentucky, the 2000 KYSA Eurosport Boy Player of the Year Vijay Dias managed to make himself a high school standout and earn a chance to attend the collegiate Division I national champs. 

Ballard High School's Dias, also the Kentucky's high school player of the year, will be playing for the Indiana Hoosiers this fall. He was a two-time All-State selection in Montana in his first two years of high school and then earned the same honor in Kentucky in his final two seasons. He was also named an All American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America last year.
