The Kentucky Youth Soccer Association Awards recognize outstanding achievements by Coaches, Players, Referees and Administrators in advancing youth soccer in the state.

Soccer Mom and Dad of the Year

Tim and Lisa Turney  

If there were a way to measure how devoted one family can be to one particular sport, the Turneys would surely top the anyone’s scale of achievement. 

Tim is the president of the Woodford YSA and Lisa is the brains of the whole operation, according to one nomination letter! 

But more seriously, both Tim and Lisa are examples of the thousands of soccer families that make Kentucky Youth Soccer the fantastic organization it has become. 

As nominator Rock Vance put it, “some people can talk the talk but Tim walks the walk.” His dedication to the sport includes the personal provision of many competitive scholarships, the creation of program and tournaments, the development of positive cash flow for the club and setting an example as a coach and administrator. He also helps out at the state level in many capacities. 

And of course, for every “Tim action,” there is an equal ( but not opposite) “Lisa reaction.” Her passion is just as strong, according to their nomination letters, and she coaches, referees and provides the moral and physical support to any team that needs it, including, apparently, running some sort of soccer hotel.
