The Kentucky Youth Soccer Association Awards recognize outstanding achievements by Coaches, Players, Referees and Administrators in advancing youth soccer in the state.

Recreational Coach of the Year

Brent Erwin Marshall County YSA

Brent Erwin coaches for the Marshall County YSA but seems to leave a positive mark on everyone he meets in youth soccer. 

A U8 girls recreational coach with a national "D" license and an national youth diploma, Erwin is also a Grade 8 Referee who seeks out opportunities to hone his own skills as a player and coach, including the accumulation of an extensive library. 

This true soccer fanatic has earned nicknames like "Soccer Boy" and "Mr. Soccer" and a place in the hearts of local soccer fans for undertaking some ugly administrative tasks with tact and foresight. 

According to his nomination packet, he organizes demonstrations and clinics and volunteers for many jobs, but his true gift is his ability to "instill in the players a love of the game." Mark Borden, whose daughter played for Erwin for two years, notes that Erwin's positive example not only produces "some of the most motivated players I have seen" but also inspired others like Borden to become involved themselves. 

Stacey Bradley noted in his nomination that Erwin exhibits "the type of dedication and commitment toward student athletes (that is) vital for the promotion of the sport and most importantly, the growth of future coaches in our community."
