Debbie Walcott of Prospect is the Administrator for the Javanon Soccer Club.

She has served in that role since August of 1996. In that capacity, she is in charge of Javanon's paperwork and overseeing all team managers and volunteer staff.

One of her prouder moments was the successful 1999 Snicker's State Cup, which was held at the Louisville Soccer Park.

According to Walcott, "The wonderful support of the Louisville community and the Javanon Soccer Club volunteers made this overwhelming task a very enjoyable event. (I) can't wait until the 2001 Snicker's State Cup, which will again be hosted by Javanon!"

Another thing that Walcott values is the wonderful friendships of the soccer community, reaching throughout the state and region, crossing over club boundary lines and even including referees and opposing coaches. Walcott also serves as the District 3 Registrar for KYSA.

Previous volunteer and "soccer mom" activities include State ODP treasurer and team manager for the Louisville Soccer Club '78 Boys.

Walcott's whole family is very involved in sporting activities.

Husband Danny is the '86 Boys ODP State chaperone and a newly licensed referee.

Oldest son Derek, 21, played soccer for the now-defunct Louisville Soccer Club, basketball and soccer at South Oldham High School and is a walk-on for the University of Louisville men's basketball team.

Dusty, 15, is a soccer referee and runs cross-country and track for South Oldham High School. Danny, 13, plays soccer for the Javanon '87 Boys and '86 ODP State Team and plays basketball at North Oldham Middle School and is also a referee.

Congratulations Debbie, and thanks for all of your hard work!

Administrator of the Year

The size and scope of youth soccer programs across the country grows with each year.  Kentucky Youth Soccer alone has grown at a pace of 5 percent for the past six years. The need for administration of those programs also continues to grow.

There are both volunteer and paid administrators at all levels of youth soccer.

The KYSA Administrator of the Year is designed to recognize excellence in administration.

Administration includes all aspects of the"paperwork" of youth soccer.  This is not an  award for the specialist who is dedicated to field assignments or solicitation of local sponsors for teams.

The Administrator Award is for those who put the parts together.  In some associations this is a paid person, part-time, or full-time.
